EMERYVILLE, Calif. -- Extensity, a software development firm,
entered the market with three products for corporations, including
an application for travel that is among the first Web-based
automated expense-reporting products.
Extensity Expense Reports, being tested by @Home Network,
NationsBanc Montgomery Securities, Reltec and Scopus Technology, is
scheduled for launch by the end of the first quarter.
An official at Extensity stressed the product's flexibility,
which he said will distinguish it in a saturated market. Sharam
Sasson, president and chief executive, said the program can run on
any hardware or operating platform.
In addition, as a Web-based product that uses Java, the new
program boasts ease of deployment and relatively little maintenance
or support costs, Sasson said. Changes are made on the Web rather
than at workstations, and because Java operates across various
platforms, it does not require a different version for different
platforms. Pricing has not yet been established, Sasson said.
The target market for the program is any company in the Fortune
5,000, he said, and the firm is selling the product through a
number of corporate travel management companies under nonexclusive
marketing agreements. Extensity eventually plans to offer
self-booking software in cooperation with a partner that would
provide a booking engine, Sasson said.
