ROYAL
CARIBBEAN gave America's Vacation Center its President's
Award for Partner of the Year. AVC, a host agency network based in
Escondido, Calif., is part of the American Express Travel
Representative Network. Co-president Brad Anderson said the agency
is "beyond honored to receive this distinguished award." Royal
Caribbean President Adam Goldstein said AVC is "setting the pace in
travel distribution through its leadership, innovation, and
reputation. We value their commitment to deliver an exceptional
experience for our guests throughout their cruise vacation planning
process."
MEANWHILE, Norwegian Cruise Line named
America's Vacation Center its President's Elite Travel Agency of
the Year. Andy Stuart, NCL's executive vice president of marketing,
sales, and passenger services, said, "AVC agents have done an
excellent job of matching our innovative products and features with
discerning vacationers, and as a result turning them into satisfied
cruise passengers."
THROUGH THE
PORT HOLE: Carnival Cruise Lines will deploy half its
fleet on short cruise itineraries in 2007, offering 32 short
cruises (from three to five days) from 12 North American homeports.
The short cruises will include Carnival's first year-round cruise
program from San Diego. The other options will embark from Mobile,
Ala.; Long Beach, Calif.; Jacksonville, Miami, Port Canaveral and
Tampa, Fla.; New York; New Orleans; Charleston, S.C.; Galveston,
Texas; and Norfolk, Va.
DATEBOOK: The new NCL will be the topic of
discussion at the Jan. 23 meeting of the Fort Worth chapter of
OSSN. The meeting will be at the Olive Garden, 925 Alta Mere Drive,
