HOME-BASED travel agents from the Network
of Entrepreneurs Selling Travel gathered recently for the NEST FEST
2006 Golden Egg Awards ceremony aboard Carnival's Sensation, as the
group made its way back from a three-day cruise to the Bahamas.
Awards were presented to the top-producing NEST agents for 2005.
They were: VacationTime Travel, Bob and Donna Lyons; Travel with
Donnie, Donnie Titus; Cruise Travel Services, Jerry and Myra
Funkhouser; Hahn Blue Sky Travel, Linda Hahn; and Vacation Shoppe
Inc., Sherry Kennedy.
WINNERS: Two home-based agents were the winners in Travel
Bound's special incentive promotion that ended Sept. 30. Stephanie
Nguyen of Falls Church, Va., and Ann Roth of Side by Side Travel in
Norwich, N.Y., each won a Toshiba Personal Laptop computer by
booking more than $50,000 in group business with Travel
MEMBERS who are affiliated with a host agency, the most
common commission split is 70/30, according to NACTA's 2006
Independent Agents Demographic Profiling Survey. The
second-most-frequent split is 80/20. Some retailers keep all
commissions and pay a monthly fee to the host. Of agents who do so,
the average monthly fee this year is $69.76 vs. $87.85 in
POCKET: Travel Bound extended its offer of an extra 5%
commission on bookings of its entire hotel inventory worldwide. The
offer applies to all new bookings for travel through Dec. 29. The
bonus pay is on top of the operator's standard 10% commission;
commission overrides apply based on volume.
