BRITRAIL launched a Web-based booking engine for travel agents designed to enable agents to make rail bookings for clients heading to Britain. To mark the launch, BritRail will pay agents 10% commission on Internet bookings through May 31; the regular commission rate is 8%. In addition, agents will receive an added $15 bonus on all BritRail Pass orders totaling more than $575, ticketed by May 31. THE WALES TOURIST BOARD has merged with the Welsh Assembly Government and now is operating within the Department of Enterprise Innovation and Networks under the name Visit Wales. The purpose of the transfer, which resulted in no staff changes, was to enable the Wales brand to be marketed consistently in multiple sectors, including tourism and business.

 

SWISS INTERNATIONAL AIR LINES began a second service from New Yorks Kennedy Airport to Zurich on May 1. The service operates daily except Sundays using Airbus A330-200 aircraft. With the addition of this flight between Kennedy and Zurich, Swiss now operates 26 flights weekly linking the New York area with Switzerland.

THE $4.8 MILLION, three-story Museum of Flamenco Dancing has opened in Seville, Spain. Created by flamenco star Cristina Hoyos, the museum is located in the city center in a restored 18th-century building and features exhibition space, flamenco performances, master classes and courses in dance, singing and guitar.
