Jackie Chan, the action hero of nearly 100 films, including “Fists of Fury,” “The Attack of the Kung Fu Girls” and “Supermen Against the Orient,” has taken on the role of Asia-Pacific Tourism Ambassador for the United Nations World Tourism Organization.
According to the UNWTO, in his role he will promote tourism as a means of fighting poverty in Asia.
On receiving the appointment, Chan said he would do his best “to promote tourism in a healthy and sustainable way, and to help people who are less fortunate through tourism.”
Chan has traveled widely as a film star, director and stuntman. He also is an honorary professor at the School of Hotel and Tourism Management of Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
