The State Department has issued a travel advisory for Australia because of the wildfires that have been raging across the country.

Noting the fire season is one of the worst in history, the State Department says tourists should exercise caution and consider postponing their trip to affected areas.

It also warns those traveling to areas not directly affected by fires to check the air quality before traveling.

The advisory contains a list of links for local and national fire and emergency entities providing fire and air quality information.
