Atlantis Paradise Island announced an extended closure of the property due to the continuous rise of Covid-19 cases in key U.S. markets, according to Audrey Oswell, president and managing director.
The property did not give a reopening date.
Atlantis Paradise Island had already pushed back its reopening date to July 30 after postponing the original reopening date from July 7.
And in the meantime, the Bahamas' prime minister said the country would no longer accept air and commercial-vessel arrivals from the U.S., although visitors from Canada, the U.K .and the EU were still welcome if they presented proof of a negative Covid test.
"We have made the difficult decision to extend Atlantis' closure, prioritizing the health and safety of our team, our guests and our community first," Oswell said in a statement released by the resort.
"While we are excited and energized by the opportunity to welcome our guests with warm Bahamian hospitality, we believe that extending our closure is in the best interest of public health at this time," she said.
Atlantis is tracking new information daily and will share reopening dates on its website and through its social media channels.
The resort earlier had announced its partnership with the Cleveland Clinic and launched the Atlantis Clean & Safe Promise to ensure its cleaning and sanitization procedures meet or exceed operational standards when the property reopens.
