The Caribbean Tourism Organization has launched #CaribbeanDreaming campaign as one initiative during this coronavirus crisis.
A spokesman for the CTO explained that it is "a simple campaign.
"The content is relaxing and comforting images and videos from member countries, but nothing that promotes festivals or major gatherings since we wish to respect the physical distancing message."
The campaign uses the hashtags such as #CaribbeanDreaming (or it subs in a specific country name for "Caribbean") and #OneCaribbean or the member country's preferred hashtag.
Several CTO members and partners also are doing their own #Dreaming campaigns, and this complements the CTO's program.
The CTO also is doing a series of weekly podcasts focusing on how Caribbean tourism, including all stakeholders, can cope with, and recover from, Covid-19. The first in the series, entitled Covid-19: The Unwanted Visitor, aired the week of April 13 on several platforms, and featured clinical psychologist Dr. Katija Khan who provided insight on how to cope with working from home.
The second podcast last week, hosted by global communications expert Carla Santiago, included tips on compiling free resources to help workers maintain physical and emotional wellbeing and how to use the downtime to learn new language skills.
Santiago also pointed out the need to give potential visitors the confidence that their resort stay would be safe by utilizing luggage disinfecting zones, a check-in process without face-to-face interaction, the need for hand washing stations at restaurant entrances and as wipes at the table.
"You want to be the first to show the world you are thinking of them when this crisis passes and that you are ready to welcome them before anyone else," Santiago said.
