Caribbean excursion operator Island Routes has reopened many of its Jamaica experiences after temporarily shuttering them due to Hurricane Melissa.

The company, owned by Sandals Resorts International, offers excursions like ATV tours, private yacht experiences and cooking classes. Additional tours will become available in the days ahead.

CEO Ryan Terrier said that each guest purchasing an experience "plays a real role in keeping Jamaica's spirit thriving."

Some ATV and river tours may be modified to ensure safety. Animal encounters have a phased reopening.

Jamaica's recovery from the damage brought by Hurricane Melissa in late October has been quick work, with the island's tourism industry aiming to be fully operational by Dec. 15.
