Starting Nov. 4, JetBlue will inaugurate nonstop flights from Los Angeles to Nassau. The flights will operate once a week on Saturdays and will be the first from the West Coast.

The current westernmost nonstop route, United Airlines' service from Denver, is slated to cease in August.

"Nassau is a very popular destination among our customers, and we are thrilled to launch the first nonstop flight from Los Angeles to Nassau, pioneering this unique service for an unserved market," said David Jehn, vice president, network planning and partnerships, JetBlue.

Nassau's Lynden Pindling Airport is the first airport outside the U.S. to implement TSA PreCheck and one of the few select airports offering U.S. Customs and Immigration Preclearance, along with U.S. Global Entry.

"We are so pleased with the partnership with JetBlue and excited to celebrate this milestone in driving tourism to the Bahamas," said Joy Jibrilu, CEO of the Nassau Paradise Island Promotion Board.
