The Nevis Tourism Authority has appointed Garcia Thompson-Hendrickson CEO. She takes over from Helen Kidd, who resigned from the post last year.

Joseph Parry, premier and minister of tourism, said Thompson-Hendrickson’s appointment comes at a time when Nevis is seeking to consolidate its position in the luxury market and in cruise tourism.

"We are working hard to have another hotel match the Four Seasons Nevis to further establish our place in the high-end marketplace," Parry said.

Thompson-Hendrickson, born in Barbados and married to a Nevisian, worked in the tourism industry in Barbados before coming to Nevis in 2005.
