Bonnie could become first hurricane of the season: Travel Weekly

Islands in the Southern Caribbean are on alert for a tropical storm that could develop into Hurricane Bonnie, which would be the first hurricane of the 2022 Atlantic hurricane season.

According to the National Hurricane Center, warnings are in effect for Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao, destinations that are usually outside the hurricane belt. Watches are in effect in Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada and Barbados.

Hato International Airport in Curacao closed at 11 a.m. Wednesday. A curfew is in effect and no one is allowed out on the streets, according to the Curacao Chronicle.
