In honor of National Vacation Day -- which is today -- Discover Puerto Rico, JetBlue and the San Juan Marriott are inviting travelers to pick any week of 2021 and block their calendars to vacation in Puerto Rico.
Participants itching for an escape to Puerto Rico can enter a giveaway through Feb. 10 by following this link to enter (pick any week in 2021 to block off vacation time; include "Fly Jet Blue to Puerto Rico" as the subject line and include [email protected] as a participant on the calendar entry).
Three winners will be selected to win two roundtrip JetBlue certificates to Puerto Rico plus a six-night stay at the San Juan Marriott.
An additional 100 participants will receive a goody bag with travel swag.
Puerto Rico just this month changed its travel protocols to encourage "responsible" tourism to the island; previously it was only recommending essential travel. A negative PCR test is one of the requirements for entry (however, since Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory, a Covid test is not required for Americans for the return trip).
"Puerto Rico is a great option for travelers seeking warm temperatures, rich history, natural attractions, delectable cuisine and international flair," said Brad Dean, CEO of Discover Puerto Rico.
JetBlue's vice president of marketing, Elizabeth Windram, said, "As the largest airline in Puerto Rico, we're excited to partner with Discover Puerto Rico to encourage travelers to choose days for a future vacation to the island."
While hesitation to travel continues in face of the Covid surge and dizzying testing procedures, studies show that 84% of American workers are happy to plan a vacation in the next six months and that a simple first step of blocking the time will increase chances of following through with plans.
