AMCV president, COO McLeod leaves line

NEW YORK -- Rod McLeod, American Classic Voyages' president and chief operating officer and longtime cruise marketer, is leaving the company as a result of its Oct. 19 bankruptcy filing, Phil Calian, AMCV's chief executive officer, confirmed Oct. 22.

AMCV laid off 2,150 employees, including 450 shoreside staff and 1,700 seafarers and shipboard staff.

The company has 30 shore-based staff in New Orleans who will handle the operaton of the historic steamboat Delta Queen, which is still operating, including David Simmons, who will oversee the sales, marketing and hotel operations of Delta Queen; Tom Carman, marine operations; Craig Keller, human resources and Nick Davison, finance, information technology and purchasing.

Jon Rusten will remain as head of the AMCV development company managing construction of the company's shipbuilding project.
