Azamara Quest set to re-enter service

Repairs to the Azamara Quest are completed, and the ship is on its way to Mumbai, where it will depart on its next cruise April 24.

The ship was repaired at the Sembawang shipyard in Singapore following a March 30 engine room fire that interrupted a 17-day cruise from Hong Kong. Azamara Club Cruises also canceled the 694-passenger ship’s April 12 sailing.

“There are some technicians onboard for the final touches. But the major repairs are done,” a spokeswoman for Azamara said.

The blaze, which was contained to the engine room, temporarily caused the ship to lose propulsion power about 200 miles from Borneo.

Engineers onboard repaired one engine and the ship sailed to Sandakan, Malaysia, on April 1, and then to the Singapore shipyard on April 9.
