Carnival Cruise Line's Celebration Key in the Bahamas can officially accommodate up to four ships simultaneously after the completion of a pier extension.
Two new berths on the pier double its previous two-ship capacity and grow the maximum daily guest count to more than 13,000. The extension will allow for about 200 more ship calls and 700,000 more guest arrivals annually.
Carnival Corp. expects three and four-ship days at Celebration Key to become common starting in September. Currently, only Carnival Cruise Line ships visit the port, but Princess Cruises and Aida will begin doing so later this year.
Celebration Key opened on Grand Bahama Island last July and features two waterslides, two pools totaling more than 275,000 square feet, beaches and an adults-only area.
By its first anniversary on July 19, Carnival expects to have welcomed 2.5 million guests to the destination.
