Bettridge leaves AmEx for Silversea

Ellen BettridgeSilversea Cruises named Ellen Bettridge president of the Americas, a new position. She will head the company's Fort Lauderdale office.

Bettridge, whose appointment becomes effective April 9, has been vice president of the American Express U.S. Retail Travel Network.

Bettridge has been with American Express for 22 years, starting in 1990 as a travel counselor in corporate services. The company said that Bettridge's last day there would be April 2, and that her replacement had not yet been named.

"Silversea is a key partner for American Express Travel, and we look forward to working with Ellen in her new role," American Express said in a statement.


Bettridge and Steve Odell, Silversea's president for Europe and Asia Pacific, will report to Kenneth Watson, the company's chief operating officer.

Silversea said the new structure will strengthen its worldwide sales and marketing organization.
