The Carnival Liberty, the first ship to undergo the initial phase of Carnival Cruise Lines’ $500 million Fun Ship 2.0 enhancement, re-entered service Oct. 22 following a two-week drydock that added dining, bar and entertainment choices.
Fun Ship 2.0 is a multiyear effort that will "transform the Carnival vacation experience" through partnerships and new branded spaces, Carnival said. The first phase extends through 2015, with 16 ships scheduled to receive Fun Ship 2.0 enhancements.
New features on the Carnival Liberty include Guy’s Burger Joint (a restaurant by Food Network star Guy Fieri), RedFrog Rum Bar, BlueIguana Tequila Bar, BlueIguana Cantina, Alchemy Bar and EA Sports Bar.
Additionally, a new nightclub experience debuted with disc jockeys trained by DJ Irie, Carnival’s official DJ who created Spin’iversity, the first DJ academy at sea.
Carnival Liberty’s drydock also included new carpeting, tile work, wall coverings and furniture, as well as other cosmetic upgrades and routine maintenance.
The ship is operating seven-day Caribbean cruises from Miami.
