Carnival Cruise
Line said it is revamping its air program, which will now operate under the
Fly2Fun name.
Previously,
Carnival’s air-sea program was called Fly Aweigh.
Carnival said the
new program was designed to maximize choice, value and convenience if cruise
customers want to use it to make flight arrangements. Fly2Fun
lets guests specify their preferred air carrier, departure point, specific
flight schedule and type of accommodation, be it coach, business or first
class.
Carnival said immediate confirmations after the reservation
is made should streamline the vacation-planning process. Flights can also be
customized for a pre- or post-cruise stay.
A Flexible Air option let guests book up to four days prior to sailing.
Payment for air is collected with the final cruise payment rather than
at booking, and there are no change fees if modifications are made up to
60 days before departure.
In a less expensive Restricted Air option, tickets are nonrefundable, must be
paid for at booking and change fees are applied based on the
airlines’ policies once the tickets are issued.
Carnival said Fly2Fun arrangements must be made by phone.
Five years ago, Carnival eliminated a custom air program, saying demand
was low.
Vicky
Blanch, Carnival’s director of travel operations, said Fly2Fun will save
customers time, as well as continue the Flight Protection
Program, which flies guests using Carnival’s air arrangements to the next port
of call should they miss their cruise departure.
