Cruise and Maritime Voyages paying commission on total fare

Cruise and Maritime Voyages, the U.K.-based operator of the Marco Polo and the Ocean Countess, is hoping to get the attention of U.S. agents by paying commission on taxes, fees and port charges.

The line, which last week officially opened its North America sales office in Fort Lauderdale, markets its sailings as “Cruises of Distinction” in Northern Europe and Scandinavia.

Paying full commission “showcases our dedication to travel agents," said Alexios Tsokos, vice president of sales and marketing.

“Agents receive commission not only on the actual cruise fare but also on taxes, fees and port charges — unlike many other cruise lines that impose non-commissionable portions to their rates. It's what we call agent-friendly pricing,” said Tsokos.

Commissions are “up to 15%,” Tsokos said, depending on the promotion.

The Marco Polo and the Ocean Countess (formerly the Cunard Countess) each accommodate 800 passengers and sail from U.K. ports.

Agents can register to become a “Cruise and Maritime Voyages Partner” at www.CruiseandMaritime.com.
