Crystal Cruises is inviting fit and adventurous guests to scale the precipitous Mount Huashan during a three-day land adventure offered on China sailings.
Participants scale the mountain, one of the five "sacred mountains" in China, by grasping iron chain rails bolted into the cliffs' side and maneuvering along a narrow path made of wood planks. Those who don't want to hike can take the cable car to the top of the peak, a panoramic ride 7,000 feet above the ground.
Guests will also have the option of climbing the nearly vertical "Heaven Stairs" to a Taoist temple built into the side of Mount Huashan's West Peak. Other excursion highlights are tours of Shanghai, Dalian and Xian.
The three-night Crystal Overland Adventure is available during the line's March 27 and April 5 China-Japan sailings between Hong Kong and Beijing.
Guests participating in the three-day land adventure will disembark the Crystal Symphony in Shanghai and rejoin in Dalian, or vice versa, depending on the direction of their cruise.
