MIAMI -- Carnival Cruise Lines selected former transportation and
labor secretary Elizabeth Dole to serve as godmother of Carnival
Spirit, the 88,500-ton ship slated for introduction later this
month.
Dole will name Spirit in an April 27 ceremony at the Port of
Miami. The ship will then embark on a two-day voyage for agents,
followed by a 16-day inaugural cruise through the Panama Canal to
Los Angeles.
Spirit will offer seven-day Alaska cruises through the
summer.
