Scenic Group will begin cruising the Hooghly River in India next year.

The company will debut itineraries in October 2027, with the 44-passenger Scenic Aura sailing the cruise portion of trips. There also will be a land component that includes destinations in India and Sri Lanka.

"The introduction of Scenic Aura on India's Hooghly River is a significant milestone for Scenic Group with the collection developed entirely around what our guests are asking for," said Adam Burke, Scenic's journey designer.

"These itineraries have been thoughtfully designed to provide unique and exclusive experiences that are culturally rich and showcase the best of India and Sri Lanka, all delivered with the depth of inclusions and personalized service Scenic is known for."

The tours span 17 to 25 days, including a nine-night Lower Ganges/Hooghly River cruise. On land, guests will visit North India, South India, Rajasthan and Sri Lanka. Dates and itineraries will be released later this year.

The trips will feature Scenic Enrich experiences (exclusive cultural excursions), including a high tea at Kathgola Palace in Murshidabad and visiting the Hooghly Imambara mosque.

The Scenic Aura previously cruised in Myanmar and will be revamped by Scenic Group's team at MKM Yachts.

Ship details will be announced later this year, but Scenic did say that each suite will have a private balcony and separate bedroom area. The ship will feature up to four dining experiences, a resort-style pool and self-service laundry. Itineraries will be all-inclusive.

Land groups will be limited to 25 guests.

The expansion comes as Scenic Group deepens its growth in Asia. The company will launch Scenic Spirit II on the Mekong in 2028, when it will also add the Scenic Eclipse II and Emerald Xara in Asia.

Viking will launch river cruises in India next year on the Brahmaputra River.
