Aqua Expeditions is traveling deeper into Cambodia along the Mekong River on two low-water itineraries debuting this year.
The cruise line will operate the sailings on the Aqua Mekong, a 20-stateroom vessel, going to parts of the river that are new for the company. The line will offer three-, four- and seven-night cruises.
The Kratie Exploration itinerary will be offered in July and August along the Upper Mekong beginning in the Kampi section of the river, home to endangered Irrawaddy dolphins. Guests will visit the island of Koh Trong, a car-free island that shows off traditional Khmer life. The cruise will continue to Kampong Cham, which was one of Cambodia's most important trading centers.
From December to February, Aqua will operate Phat Sandai cruises through Cambodia's Tonle Sap region. The itinerary features a remote floating village, opportunities to kayak the waterway and a visit to the forests of Phnom Touk Meas.
