Heritage Group, the private equity firm managed by Silversea Cruises founder Manfredi Lefebvre d'Ovidio, has made an offer to acquire Crystal Cruises, according to a published report.

Seatrade Cruise News reported Feb. 15 that Lefebvre said in a statement that Heritage could "transform Crystal into a success story."

According to the report, Heritage first made an offer for Crystal in early 2021 and made another one after its recent liquidation.

"We are a very credible buyer with roots in the cruise industry that stretch back in the late '80s," the statement said. "We are firmly convinced that with our knowledge and know-how of the ultra-luxury segment we could transform Crystal into a success story."

Heritage did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Lefebvre said that Heritage's majority ownership of both Abercrombie & Kent and Cox & Kings would generate synergies "that would facilitate the recovery and partially compensate for the deterioration of the brand exacerbated in the last few weeks."
