Holland America Line will visit Istanbul in 2020 again for the first time since 2016.

HAL plans six overnight stays in the Turkish capital including at least three on 12-night sailings from Venice of its Nieuw Statendam ship.

Many cruise lines stopped sailing to Istanbul following the civil war in Syria, a terror attack at the airport and an attempted military coup.

The Nieuw Amsterdam will spend a full season in the Med, HAL said.

The Nieuw Amsterdam will be joined by the Zuiderdam from May through June on 12-day itineraries, followed by the Nieuw Statendam and the Veendam in September and October on cruises ranging from 10 to 14 days.

The Zuiderdam, the Nieuw Amsterdam and the Veendam all feature overnight calls to Istanbul and a combined 14 overnights at Venice, HAL said.
