Holland America Line refreshes Tamarind menu

Tamarind, the popular Pan-Asian restaurant aboard five Holland America Line ships, is getting more than a dozen new dishes throughout its menu.

Rotterdam guests can already enjoy the new menu, and it will become available on the Nieuw Statendam, Koningsdam, Eurodam and Nieuw Amsterdam by June, said Holland America Line.

Holland America Line's price for dining at Tamarind is $35 per person, or the restaurant can be included when guests buy the Have It All package.

The menu maintains some guest favorites -- including wok-seared lobster, crispy duck, wasabi-crusted beef tenderloin and Panang red curry coconut chicken -- while adding the following items: 

Appetizers 

• Coconut-crusted scallops with honey lime dressing 

• Pork bao bun with green onions, carrots, pickled cucumber, toasted sesame seeds and cilantro

• Korean beef taco: Bulgogi (vegetarian on request) with kimchi mayo, Asian slaw, avocado and cilantro

• Lumpiang Shanghai: Ground pork, egg roll wrap, sweet chili sauce and green papaya

• Vegan tom kha (coconut soup) with kaffir lime, mushroom, bean sprouts and chili oil 

Entrées

• Mongolian lamb chop with baby bok choy, toasted sesame seeds and mirin plum sauce

• Sweet potato and cauliflower massaman curry with green beans, crispy onions, bean sprouts, basil and peanuts

• Teochew fried seabass with ginger scallion chili soy

• Thai basil Szechuan shrimp with chili pepper glaze, Asian spices, mushrooms, bell peppers and scallions

• Vegan Singapore mei fun: eggplant katsu, rice noodles, bell peppers, bean sprouts and yu choy

Side dishes on the menu include steamed jasmine or brown rice, egg fried rice, Asian eggplant, bok choy, and sake-braised oyster and shiitake mushrooms.

Desserts

• Cherry blossom tart: chocolate and cookie crust 

• Passion fruit cloud: light egg-white soufflé and passion fruit sorbet

• Vegan pineapple coconut tapioca with lemongrass foam and sesame tuile

Seafood at Tamarind features locally sourced options through Holland America's Global Fresh Fish Program.

Holland America will offer a Taste of Tamarind Pop-up experience starting in October on the Westerdam in Asia, Noordam in Australia and on Grand Voyages and select Legendary Voyages.
