Seabourn announced the 2017 participants in its Seabourn
Conversations series of enrichment lectures featuring speakers and
personalities from the fields of journalism, government, preservation, and the
culinary arts.
Among the best-known names is that of Tim Rice, the lyricist
behind shows such as "Joseph and Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," "Jesus
Christ Superstar," "Evita" and "The Lion King."
Rice will be featured on the maiden voyage of the Seabourn
Encore, personally narrating Seabourn's newest musical production, "An
Evening with Tim Rice," which will feature his best-known works, performed
by the Seabourn Singers.
Rice will also discuss his collaborations with Andrew Lloyd
Webber, Elton John, and Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Andresson of pop music group Abba
in an "up close and personal conversation," Seabourn said.
Other speakers in the series include chef Darren McGrady, a
former personal chef to Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Diana and princes William
and Harry; former Alaska governor and U.S. senator Frank Murkowski, who will
appear on a June 1 Seabourn Sojourn sailing in Alaska; and Walter Robinson, editor
at large and Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist for the Boston Globe.
