NCL alters sailings of Sky, Wind for '02, '03

NEW YORK -- Norwegian Cruise Line is altering the 2002 and 2003 itineraries of two ships, the Norwegian Sky and the Norwegian Wind, in a move designed to "increase [NCL's] commitment to Hawaii and the southern Caribbean," according to a statement.

The Norwegian Sky, originally slated to sail from Vancouver to Hawaii on Sept. 29, 2002, for 10-day cruises from Honolulu, will instead sail to Miami for a drydock through Oct. 29.

The ship will then reposition to San Juan to offer seven-night Caribbean itineraries beginning Nov. 3, 2002.

The Norwegian Wind, originally scheduled to sail in Asia through 2003 and then reposition to Hawaii, will instead sail from Vancouver to Hawaii on Sept. 16, 2002, for 10- and 11-day cruises from Honolulu beginning Sept. 27, 2002.

"Having operated a reasonably short season in the 10- and 11-day [Hawaii] market, we are choosing now to increase our commitment by offering 10- and 11-day itineraries throughout the winter season," said Colin Veitch, president and chief executive officer.
