Princess
Cruises said it has developed a design for its own bed, which will be rolled
out fleetwide through 2018.
The bed,
which will be made exclusively for Princess, features a pillow top mattress (a plush, 2-inch-thick pillow top on a 9-inch, single-sided medium-firm mattress) with individually wrapped coils for less partner disturbance. The bedding consists of a duvet and 100% Jacquard-woven cotton linens.
Princess said a sleep expert and clinical
psychologist, Michael Breus, and interior designer Candice Olson collaborated
in the design.
The bed will be referred to as the Princess Luxury
Bed in marketing materials. Princess said it will buy 44,000 of them for its
18 ships.
Westin
Hotels & Resorts became one of the first hospitality names to be associated
with a bed when it created its Heavenly Bed in 1999.
