Princess Cruises said it has altered Regal Princess itineraries out of Galveston to accommodate "essential engine maintenance."

For voyages departing Dec. 8, Jan. 5 and Jan. 12, planned calls to Costa Maya have been replaced with extended stays at Honduran island Roatan. For the Jan. 19 voyage, the extended stay in Roatan replaces a visit to Montego Bay.

"These adjustments will allow additional time in port to complete necessary maintenance while preserving the seamless sailing experience that guests have come to expect from Princess Cruises," the line said in a statement.

In Roatan, the onboard casino will remain open during the overnight stay.

Guests choosing to sail as planned will receive a 20% future cruise credit. Princess is also offering a full refund -- including refunds for pre-purchased shore excursions, Princess-arranged air travel and other related purchases -- to guests who want to cancel.

Earlier this fall, Princess canceled three Regal Princess cruises due to power generator issues. The line had nixed the Oct. 27, Nov. 3 and Nov. 10 departures.
