Silversea Cruises has made changes to its global management structure and will open an office in Frankfurt later this year.

Steve Odell was named senior vice president of sales and marketing for the U.K., Europe and Asia-Pacific. Karen Christensen was appointed director of sales and marketing and general manager for Australia and New Zealand.

Odell has been responsible for Silversea’s Asia-Pacific region since 2001, and opened an office in Sydney in 2008. He will relocate to the company's London office at the beginning of July, where he will take on his new responsibilities for the extended geographical region.

Christensen had been Silversea's regional sales director for Australia and New Zealand.

The sales and marketing staff responsible for the European market, based in Monaco, will report to Odell.

The Frankfurt office, which will open in the second half of 2011, underscores the importance of the German market, said Silversea.

The office will also manage operations in Austria and Switzerland.
