FORT LAUDERDALE – A movie star was aboard the newest Princess Cruises ship, the Star Princess, for its naming ceremony.
But for Academy-Award winning actor Matthew McConaughey and wife Camilla, the opportunity wasn't about promoting a movie; it was all about tequila.
Guests at the ship's naming ceremony received shots of the couple's tequila brand, Pantalones, upon entering the venue, and it was a bottle of Pantalones, not the typical champagne, that crashed into the ship's hull for its christening.
The ceremony, hosted by television host Dawn McCoy, began with a glittery and colorful musical performance by the ship's cast.
Princess Cruises president Gus Antorcha said, "Princess has never stood still" in advancing its product and experience.
"Star Princess represents the next chapter in that evolution, combining everything our guests have always loved about Princess with a new light and fresh energy," he said. "You'll see it in every detail."

There was excitement in the room as it prepared for McConaughey's entrance, and he strolled out in a white suit with Camilla wearing a mosaic gown.
"I'm godfather to a few of my friend's kids, and that means those kids have to be on my Christmas list," Matthew McConaughey said, "but to be a godfather and godmother of a ship is an honor and a unique one."
Sheryl Crow performed a celebratory concert after dinner with a full band, and a Northern Lights-themed drone show capped off the performance.
The Star Princess' inaugural cruise departed Oct. 4 from Barcelona. After an 11-day Mediterranean voyage, the Star Princess did a transatlantic crossing to Miami for the start of its Caribbean season.
