The MSC Sinfonia is at Fincantieri's shipyard in Palermo, Italy, where an additional
section will be inserted into the middle of the ship.
The pre-built,
78-foot midsection has 193 cabins, making Sinfonia ready to carry 1,952
passengers at double occupancy.
MSC Cruises said the work
will take about 10 weeks and is part of a $273 million program to upgrade four
older ships.
Sinfonia is
scheduled to resume cruises on March 25 in Genoa.
