Windstar Cruises has joined the USTOA as an Active Member, meaning it is now part of the group's program that guarantees $1 million in protection for traveler payments, the USTOA said Thursday.
The addition of Windstar brings to 49 the number of USTOA Active Members, which represent 143 brands, according to USTOA president and CEO Terry Dale.
Active members must post a $1 million bond or security with the USTOA to cover traveler payments in the event of bankruptcy or insolvency.
"Windstar Cruises is thrilled to join the United States Tour Operators Association as an Active Member, including the $1 Million Travelers Assistance Program that gives travelers additional peace of mind about their travel purchase," Windstar Cruises' president Christopher Prelog said in a press release. "We look forward to working with USTOA to help us tell the story of our unique style of private-yacht cruising that's 180 degrees from ordinary, with enhanced visibility and exposure to new consumers and travel advisors."
Dale said Windstar Cruises is known for "immersive experiences, destination authenticity and exceptional service," attributes he said "are at the core of what USTOA tour operator members aim to deliver."
Windstar Cruises is part of the Xanterra Travel Collection of global hospitality and travel companies.
