Built in 1988, the Bahamian-registered Wind Spirit is a sail-assisted motor ship with sails that unfurl in a couple of minutes at the touch of a computerized control button. The ship is largely powered by a diesel engine and runs at a speed of 11 knots, up to 15.8 with the right winds.
