NEW YORK -- Exquisite Jamaica is the moniker for a line of upscale
travel programs to the Caribbean launched by American Express
Vacations and Air Jamaica.
For sale exclusively by American Express agencies and targeted
directly at American Express cardholders through bonus rewards
incentives, the program involves participation by the Jamaica
Tourist Board, Sandals Resorts, Couples Resorts, SuperClubs, Island
Outpost and Elegant Resorts.
The 12 resorts participating include five in Negril: Couples
Negril and Swept Away; the Caves; Sandals Negril Beach Resort &
Spa and Grand Lido Negril by SuperClubs.
In Montego Bay, they are the Sandals Royal Caribbean and Half
Moon Golf, Tennis & Beach Club.
Other participating properties are Goldeneye in Oracabessa;
Strawberry Hill in Irish Town; Royal Plantation Golf Resort &
Spa by Beaches in Ocho Rios; the Grand Lido Braco; and the Grand
Lido Sans Souci.
For three nights in mid-January at the Royal Plantation, rates
range from about $1,800 for a deluxe suite to $3,530 for a
two-bedroom, oceanfront suite. Rates are per person, double, and
include first class air on Air Jamaica from New York.
For a European plan at Half Moon, rates for three nights in
January range from approximately $1,465 per person, double, for a
superior room to $2,665 for an imperial room, including first class
air from New York.
The program is available on bookings made through March 31 for
travel through the end of 2003.
In addition, American Express card members who book by Dec. 15
will receive $100 credit on vacations of $2,000 or more.
