LAS VEGAS -- The future of the famed Siegfried & Roy show,
which mixed magic tricks and illusions with white tigers, is in
jeopardy.
Roy Horn, who has performed in Las Vegas with partner Siegfried
Fischbacher for almost 30 years, was mauled by one of the animals
during Friday night's performance at The Mirage resort-casino.
Horn remained in critical condition at University Medical
Center.
Those holding tickets for the show should contact The Mirage,
which is issuing refunds, according to a spokesman for the
show.
The Mirage can be reached at (800) 627-6667 or (702)
791-7111.
A permanent cancellation of the Siegfried & Roy show at The
Mirage would likely impact the company's earnings by about two or
three cents a share, a gaming analyst with UBS Investment Research
said.
Insurance on the performers could make up for lost ticket
revenues, said analyst Robyn Farley, although it may not cover
incremental gaming revenues from the show's visitor traffic.
Farley estimated the show generated about $44 million in revenue
per year and brought nearly 400,000 people annually through The
Mirage.
