PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas -- Holiday Inn SunSpree Resort here now
offers a fully supervised children's program, the Island Stop Kids
Club, as part of its inclusive packaging.
The Island Stop Kids Club was designed with a Bahamian theme --
vibrantly colored decor, open spaces and a sea-inspired motif.
The walls are decorated with a water scene featuring sea
creatures interspersed with caricatures of popular children's story
characters, such as Winnie the Pooh, and Blue from Nickelodeon's
"Blue's Clues" television show.
The club is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and provides
activities, lunch and snacks.
The program is coordinated by Erin Pratt, activities director,
who guarantees "not a single dull moment."
According to Pratt, "a slew of activities and amenities are
offered for children ages 4 to 12."
The activities include arts and crafts; jewelry making;
kid-appropriate movies and games; science activities, and morning
story time.
Afternoons are spent outdoors, weather permitting, with a host
of plans to keep children busy.
The outdoor activities include sand-sculpting contests, "beach
olympics" and marine life hunts.
Entrance into the program is free to guests on the inclusive
plan; guests on the European plan pay $20 per child, per day, with
lunch included.
For parents who crave a late night out, baby-sitters can be
arranged for an additional charge through the Island Stop Kids
Club.
The 246-room property reopened in May following a $9 million
refurbishment project and rebranding as Holiday Inn SunSpree
Resort.
The inclusive rates cover accommodations, three meals daily,
most beverages (house liquors and nonalcoholic), Island Stop Kids
Club, airport transfers, use of the fitness center and tennis
courts and all taxes and gratuities.
Through Dec. 20, nightly inclusive rates range from $139 to $219
per person, double.
From Dec. 21 to Jan. 1 and from Jan. 21 to April 14 rates range
from $245 to $305. Between Jan. 2 and 20, rates are from $190 to
$250.
Children under age 12 stay and eat free when sleeping in a room
with adults.
