SAN FRANCISCO -- The Kimpton Hotel & Restaurant Group will open
the Hotel Monaco New Orleans on Aug. 25.
The 250-room boutique hotel, located in downtown New Orleans,
will be housed in a remodeled Masonic temple building.
The building, one of the city's earliest skyscrapers, built in
1926, is undergoing an internal transformation while retaining its
modern Gothic profile.
The hotel will offer 24-hour room service; secretarial, business
and concierge services; a fitness center, and meeting rooms.
Rooms will have two-line phones, voice mail, televisions and
stereos with CD players.
Adjacent to the hotel will be a restaurant and bar, a joint
effort between Kimpton and chef Susan Spicer of New Orleans' Bayona
restaurant.
The restaurant will feature Spicer's regional American cuisine,
and live music will be performed in the restaurant bar.
Rack rates are $135 to $295 for rooms and $350 to $495 for
suites.
San Francisco-based Kimpton operates 34 hotels in North America,
