DECATUR, Ga. -- Lost World Adventures is offering weekly departures
year-round on two programs.
The first combines Venezuela's pristine rain forests with Caribbean
Sea attractions. The second takes clients from the Andes Mountains
to the Caribbean coast and includes a sailing cruise along Los
Roques archipelago.
The eight-night Amazon Rainforest & Caribbean program starts
in Caracas for one night and then continues by air to Puerto
Ayacucho for a three-night stay at Yataje, a comfortable lodge on
the Coro Coro River.
Accommodations are in private cabanas with bathrooms, and
facilities include an open-air bar and lounge. In the rain forest,
activities will include a boat ride to Coro Coro Falls for swimming
a guided jungle walk, a nighttime boat ride for bird-watching and
alligator viewing and a boat ride on the Manapiare River.
Travelers return to Caracas by air and continue overland through
a cloud forest to the Henri Pittier National Park, home to more
than 400 species of birds and more than 30,000 classified
plants.
The drive continues through the Portachuelo mountain pass, a
bird-watchers' haven, to the colonial town of Choroni on the
Caribbean coast for a three-night stay at a hacienda-style lodge. A
lot of time is scheduled for swimming and snorkeling as well as for
boat rides to remote beaches and the picturesque coastal village of
Chuao for lunch and a tropical fruit plantation visit. The tour
ends with a final night in Caracas.
The $1,995 price per person includes two nights in Caracas in a
five-star hotel; three nights each in Amazon and Caribbean lodges,
with all meals and guided excursions; private transfers, and
domestic flights.
International air is not included. The 11-night Scenic Andes and
Los Roques program combines the Andes Mountains with Angel Falls at
Canaima. It also features the beaches of Venezuela's Caribbean
coast during a three-day sailboat cruise through Los Roques
archipelago.
For the four-night Scenic Andean Adventure, travelers fly to
Merida, staying three nights there and one night in the mountains
at the Hotel Los Frailes. This tour includes extensive overland
sightseeing to Andean villages and highland plateaus. An optional
ride is available on the world's longest and highest aerial cable
car (about 11,000 feet).
During a two-night stay in Canaima, travelers fly over Devils
Canyon, Auyan-tepi and Angel Falls in a DC-3 and take a boat
excursion in the Canaima lagoon for a close-up view of Hacha
Falls.
An optional full-day tour is available by air to Kavak. The
cruise in Los Roques archipelago will include swimming and
snorkeling. This program is priced at $2,498 per person,
double.
It includes two nights' accommodations at the Caracas Hilton;
four nights on a Scenic Andes adventure; guided excursions and an
Angel Falls overflight; a three-night sailing at Los Roques;
airport transfers, and domestic flights.
