NEW YORK -- Former homes of wealthy citizens of the Ottoman Empire
have been converted to special-category hotels and are featured in
packages to Istanbul offered by Megatrails this winter.
The Blue House and the Sultanahmet Palace are both hotel-homes
located in the heart of Old Istanbul and close to such attractions
as St. Sophia, the Blue Mosque and Topkapi Palace. These hotels
offer the amenities and comforts of larger hotels but add more
historical atmosphere and intimate settings.
One-week packages at these special-category properties start at
$685 per person, double occupancy, and include roundtrip air from
New York (midweek departures), daily buffet breakfast, hotel tax
and service charges and airport transfers.
Packages are valid for travel until March 31, with supplemental
charges starting at $250 for travel between Dec. 16 and Jan. 3.
Other hotels are featured in Megatrails' winter program, such as
the five-star Marmara, with package costs starting at $985.
Optional guided tours are available to clients, who can extend
their stay to include a two-day visit to Ephesus for $290 per
person or a three-day visit to Cappadocia for $325.
