n time for the Republican National Convention, slated for Aug. 30 to Sept. 2 in New York, the Southampton Inn on Long Island is inviting city dwellers to get away from the hoopla surrounding it with the Convention Getaway.

The overnight plan is priced at $229 for each of the convention's five nights and covers accommodations for up to two adults and two children in the same room. Guests checking out on Sept. 3 are permitted to use the inn's pool and shower facilities for the day.

Clients booking the Manatee Spotting package this summer at the Sundial Beach Resort on Sanibel Island, Fla., can "adopt" their very own manatee.

The three-night plan, priced from $419 per room, includes accommodations in a one- or two-bedroom condo and a day of kayaking and manatee-spotting.

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts and Porsche North America teamed up to offer the Tour de Fairmont, a driving package designed to give clients a glimpse of the California coastline.

Clients booking the Tour de Fairmont plan will stay two nights each in the Fairmont San Francisco and the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa. They can choose from Porsche's Cayenne sport-utility vehicle, the Boxster or the 911 to transport them between the two properties.

The Tour de Fairmont package starts at $7,990 per couple and includes accommodations, use of the Porsche during the stay, two spa treatments or rounds of golf, a bottle of Moet & Chandon champagne, a welcome gift, a tank of gas and valet parking at each hotel. Nomadic Expeditions created a 15-night journey to Mongolia, where travelers accompany paleontologists studying the dinosaurs that roamed the Gobi Desert.

The land-only, all-inclusive exploration is priced from $3,645 per person, double. The rate covers four nights in hotels, eight nights in expedition-style tents and three nights at the Three Camel Lodge, Nomadic Expeditions' camp near the Gobi-Altai Mountains.
