KEY BISCAYNE, Fla. -- The 402-room Ritz-Carlton, Key Biscayne
opened with a three-night summer package called Key to Paradise.
In addition to accommodations, the plan includes, one treatment
per person in its 20,000-square-foot spa, unlimited use of its
fitness center and tennis complex.
Also covered are daily continental breakfasts in Aria, the
resort's oceanview restaurant, unlimited use of bikes for island
tours and VIP passes to 10 Miami-area attractions.
The commissionable package is priced at $789, double, through
Sept. 30.
The 13-story Ritz-Carlton occupies a 12-acre stretch of
waterfront property, five miles from downtown Miami.
The property features floor-to-ceiling lobby windows that offer a
panoramic view of both palm gardens and the Atlantic Ocean.
The hotel has more than 20,000 square feet of meetings space,
including the 10,000-square-foot oceanfront Ritz-Carlton
Ballroom.
In addition, it has an oceanfront spa, an 11-court tennis
complex, a pool concierge and poolside tanning massages, all of
which are unique among Miami-area hotels, according to John
Cottrill, general manager.
The nearby Crandon Golf Course is accessible to guests.
Introductory room rates at Ritz-Carlton, Key Biscayne are
available through Sept. 30 -- $139 per night for American Express
cardholders and a promotional rate beginning at $195 for
others.
The Key Biscayne hotel is the first of three Ritz-Carltons to
open in Greater Miami.
Scheduled to open in December is a 115-room boutique hotel in
Coconut Grove, followed by a 375-room oceanfront Art Moderne
landmark, set for South Beach in early 2002. The latter will be a
reconstruction of the former DiLido Hotel.
Chris Hamaway is area director of leisure and business travel,
responsible for all three Miami-area Ritz-Carltons.
Hamaway most recently was general manager for Certified
Vacations, Fort Lauderdale.
Nicholas Monteleone is travel industry sales manager for the Key
Biscayne property. He had held a similar post with the Embassy
Suites Resort in Deerfield Beach.
