The International Spa Association declared October to be Spa
Awareness Month.
Participating spas and suppliers will offer demonstrations, tips
and incentives.
Promotions will be listed on the association's Web site, at www.experienceispa.com, which launched on June 1.
The site features a search engine enabling users to find a spa
based on geographic area or type; articles on spa experiences and
news; resources for researching the industry, and samples of spa
cuisine.
In other spa news, Olympia, Wash.-based GeoAgents.com entered
into an alliance with SpaView.com to provide targeted marketing and
electronic delivery of promotions to travel agents.
The alliance will work through GeoAgents.com's Web site and with
Travel Desktop software, a management and marketing tool for
agents, set to launch in the coming weeks.
SpaView.com will provide content to the GeoAgents site, and
GeoAgents.com will promote SpaView to expanded agent and consumer
audiences.
Meanwhile, spas all over the world are sprucing up and offering
deals to entice clients to visit.
The Orlando World Center Marriott completed an $88 million
renovation project this summer.As part of the refurbishment, the resort opened a
10,000-square-foot spa, operating from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
The facility offers 25 different body treatments, including
hydrotherapy; massages; facials, and group and personal fitness
programs.

Mii amo, the spa at Enchantment Resort in Boynton Canyon,
Ariz., named Annika Chane general manager.The 16-room, 22,000-square-foot spa will open on Nov. 15.
The Aston Bali Resort & Spa is offering Strictly for
Pleasure, a five-night couples package.The plan is priced from $880 per room, double, and covers
accommodations, daily breakfasts, airport transfers, dinner for
two, several commemorative gifts and a treatment selection for each
guest.
Treatments include an Indonesian massage; a coconut body scrub;
a Balinese massage salt application and body splash; a traditional
Lulur, a massage and exfoliating scrub followed by a yogurt rub and
flower bath, and a Boreh treatment, which is a massage followed by
a body mask.
Also included is a one-hour massage training session for the
couple.

When Anguilla's Cap Juluca reopens Oct. 28, guests of the
resort will be the first to sample some of the treatments that will
be available at a spa scheduled to open in fall 2001.The treatments available this fall include the Signature Juluca

Also available to guests this season will be massages,

The Westin Savannah Harbor Resort in Savannah, Ga., opened the
Greenbrier Spa at Savannah Harbor this spring.Modeled after the Greenbrier Spa in White Sulphur Springs,
W.Va., the $16 million facility recreated the treatments and
amenities of the original.
Services include hydrotherapy; aromatherapy facials and
massages; steam and sauna baths; body polishes, and pedicures and
manicures.
The 10,500-square-foot spa has 14 treatment rooms, four
hydrotherapy rooms, and two Scotch spray and Swiss shower
facilities.
The fitness center features Cybex treadmills, step machines and
recumbent bikes.
Personal trainers provide fitness evaluations and one-on-one
sessions.
Aquanautics classes are offered in the outdoor pool.
