BAIE LONGUE -- In ancient Greek mythology, when the blessed died,
they were rewarded by the gods and sent to Elysium, a place of
bliss, or paradise.
The Elysee Spa opened at La Samanna resort here in December with
that image in mind.
The spa was designed to induce feelings of bliss and to relieve
the stress of traveling and everyday life.
As the resort already was known as a luxury property, building a
spa was a natural progression, according to a spokeswoman for the
property.
Elysee Spa features five treatment rooms and a separate salon
for manicures, pedicures, waxing, face and eye care and
hairstyling.
Treatments range from Swedish and Shiatsu massages to facials.
Body therapies include scrubs and seaweed wraps.
Massages are available in-room or in the spa. All other
treatments are reserved for the spa only.
The treatment rooms all look out onto the private gardens at La
Samanna and are furnished with redwood furniture and Italian stone
floors.
Rack rates at the 81-room property, through Sept. 4, start at
$380 for oceanview rooms, $695 for one-bedroom cliffside suites,
$835 for one-bedroom oceanfront suites, $1,215 for two-bedroom
oceanfront suites and $2,470 for three-bedroom villas.
Premium features are offered in most room categories, including
three specialty suites.
Inclusions in the premium category are oversized bathrooms;
nightly turndown service and in-room check-in; fully stocked wet
bars, and other amenities.
Rates are per room, single or double, and cover daily breakfast
and use of nonmotorized sports equipment.
