Marriott International has opened the JW Marriott Costa Elena Resort & Spa in Costa Rica, the luxury flag's first all-inclusive resort.
Situated along Costa Rica's northern Pacific coast, the property features 415 rooms, with select ground-floor accommodations offering access to semiprivate swim-out pools. Other room categories include Presidential Suites with separate living areas and a collection of Mindful Rooms and Suites, which offer wellness-focused amenities.
Guests have access to 15 food and beverage venues, including the coastal grill concept Casado, Afro-Caribbean eatery Puerto Limon and Leal, a locally inspired restaurant that serves a seven-course tasting menu and offers a roast-your-own-coffee experience.
Another F&B highlight is LaGloria, a root beer stand-inspired venue that serves artisanal root beer, craft sodas and classic comfort food. The restaurant pays homage to Marriott founder J. Willard Marriott, who made his entrepreneurial debut with a root beer stand in Washington, D.C., in 1927.
Resort within a resort
The resort is also home to the Griffin Club, which is billed as a "private resort-within-a-resort experience." Guests who book Griffin Club accommodations have access to a pre-arrival concierge consultation as well as a private arrival area and personal assistant and well-being guide services. Other Griffin Club perks include access to a 24/7 lounge, a dedicated pool and a private beach area and priority access to dining reservations and pool cabanas.
Additional amenities include a Family by JW Club kids' club and programming; a 16,000-square-foot wellness center with a Spa by JW and fitness center; more than 9,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space; and 17 pools, including an oceanfront infinity pool.
Rates at the JW Marriott Costa Elena Resort & Spa start at $900 per person, per night, based on double occupancy.
JW Marriott is one of several Marriott luxury and lifestyle brands making their forays into all-inclusive, joining W Hotels, which opened the W Punta Cana all-inclusive last year, and Ritz-Carlton, which will debut the Ritz-Carlton All-Inclusive Yanuna in Punta Cana in 2028.
