Citing "lethal assaults on foreign visitors," the State Department
urged U.S. travelers in Namibia to stay away from the Trans-Caprivi
Highway in the north because fighting in Angola has spilled across
the border.
The department previously said the Okavango and Caprivi regions
in northern Namibia should be avoided.
Separately, the State Department removed Y2K-related travel
warnings for Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Moldavia.
