GEORGE TOWN, Grand Cayman -- A new waterfront attraction in
downtown George Town gives visitors a dining option with a very
local touch.
The new Tortuga Rum Cake Factory is the 18th retail outlet in
the Caribbean and U.S. for Tortuga Rum Co., headquartered in the
Cayman Islands.
The factory is located in a Caymanian-style cottage behind a
white picket fence at the corner of Harbour Drive and Boilers Road
in George Town.
Tables with umbrellas are set in a typical Caymanian sand garden
planted with bougainvillaea.
Hours of operation are Mondays through Saturdays from 7 a.m. to
5 p.m.
Tortuga rum cakes are baked on the premises in a large
commercial oven.
Customers can view the cakes being baked and sample the five rum
cake varieties at the snack bar as well as island specialties from
other destinations.
