AMERICAN AIRLINES will
launch daily, nonstop service between Chicago and Shannon, Ireland,
on May 1. The Boeing 757 service will complement Americans existing
daily, nonstop Chicago-to-Dublin flight, which began in May 2006.
American currently operates Shannon service in conjunction with the
Chicago-to-Dublin flight and will revert to that service in
October, after the summer season.
CIE TOURS INTERNATIONAL added Sicily to its 2007 portfolio with a weeklong package.
The escorted tour is priced from $898, land-only; $1,529, with air
from New York and Boston, and $1,656 from Chicago. The itinerary
includes three nights in Taormina, two nights in Palermo and one
night in Agrigento. Departures are scheduled for selected Saturdays
from Feb. 17 through Dec. 22. Activities include a tour and wine
tasting in Marsala and visits to the Benedictine Abbey of Monreale,
Valley of the Temples, the slopes of Mount Etna and Neapolis
Archaeological Park Greek Ruins in the ancient city of
Syracuse.
UNITED VACATIONS is
trimming $100 per couple on air-hotel packages for winter travel to
Germany. The offer is available for trips from Chicago to Munich,
Frankfurt, Berlin, Dusseldorf and Stuttgart. The Winter Savings
Vacation to Germany packages must be booked by March 15 for travel
through March 28, using the promotional code DESAVE50 at time of
booking. Sample vacations include roundtrip air with Wednesday and
Thursday departures, four-night hotel accommodations and daily

packages in Portugal and Spain. A one-night package at the Mallorca
Marriott Son Antem Golf Resort & Spa in Spain includes full
breakfast for two and daily greens fees per person. Priced from
about $227 per room per night, the special is valid through April.
A similar package at the five-star Denia Marriott La Sella Golf
Resort & Spa, also in Spain, is priced from about $227.
